Ph.D. Thesis: Adoption of New Technology and its Impact upon Economic Efficiency in a Rice-based Agriculture: Applying linear programming and linear regression techniques, the thesis examined the validity of (a) profit-maximization hypothesis, and (b) inverse relation between farm-size and productivity hypothesis under three different technological conditions in a predominantly rice-producing agricultural economy in India.

Post-Doctoral Research: Structural Break, Unit Root and Cointegration in Indian Macroeconomic Time Series: The study carried out a number of unit-root tests on Indian macroeconomic time series to see how robust is the unit-root hypothesis to alternative statistical testing procedures with and without structural break. It also carried out various cointegration tests on different macroeconomic models.

Award of Fellowship: Ford Foundation Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Economics, 1995. Performed post-doctoral research in the Department of Agricultural & Resource Economics, and Haass School of Business, University of California, Berkeley, USA (September 1995 – August 1996) (Supervisors: Prof. Brian Wright and Prof. Richard Meesee).
